Nexhat Jashari – Biography

Energy Advisor, Energy Efficiency Specialist

Nexhat Jashari has 28 years of experience, 8 years in the private sector and 20 years of public institutional experience, consultancy roles and advisory positions in cooperation with national and international stakeholders. During this period, he has 7 years of experience in managerial positions and 18 years in the context of development cooperation projects/programs. He was involved in several development projects, implemented by GIZ. Actively contributed to the exchange formats of cooperation with Energy Community Secretariat, energy projects and various stakeholders of Western Balkan Countries.

Since 2021, Mr. Jashari is engaged as Energy Advisor within the German Government funded Project implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Nexhat is responsible for supporting and advising key Kosovo stakeholders in improving the legal and regulatory framework for energy efficiency and application of renewable energy technologies. Nexhat actively contributes to the improvement of the dialogue on Just Energy Transition through regular exchange between relevant actors from policy makers, civil society, academia, and the private sector.

Nexhat advised the Minister’s Cabinet of the ex-Ministry of Economic Development and Kosovo Energy Efficiency Agency in 2018 – 2021. He was responsible for organizing the entire process for the training and certification of energy auditors in Kosovo in 2018-2020, in coordination with Kosovo Energy Efficiency Agency. During 2006-2010, he was leading and supervising six full time national staff and 8-10 external experts annually. During 2012-2017, he was engaged in the “Supervision of energy efficiency and renewable energy measures” in 63 schools and 2 hospitals in Kosova and “Supervision of completion of MUNINFRA – Phase V, municipal buildings and library”. Nexhat was a Technical Director in a private company in Kosova during 2004-2005. He was involved in the implementation of various projects and programs in all municipalities during 2000-2004 within a European Union funded project. He monitored and coordinated the process of housing reconstruction in Kosovo in 2002. He has advanced facilitation & moderation skills.

He has the following academic qualifications: Master Professional of Energy Efficiency (November 2022, Faculty of Architecture / UP), Graduated Engineer of Architecture (October 1999, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture / UP, five-years programme).

Mr. Jashari has the following professional qualifications: Integrated Project Management and Consulting (2018), Trainer for Energy Auditing in Buildings (2018), GIZ Management Model Capacity WORKS (2017), Certified Management Consultant (2015), International Project Management (2008).

Nexhat’s mother tongue is Albanian. He has excellent skills in writing and speaking English. He is fluent in Serbian, both in writing and speaking.

Hobbies: gardening, walking, swimming, reading research. Still playing guitar and some of the national instruments.
