Senior Expert – Industrial Property

Mr. Bashkim Navakazi is a highly accomplished professional with more than 25 years of experience in the field of Intellectual Property, with particular expertise in Industrial Property. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Prishtina in 1988 and has built a distinguished and successful career dedicated to Industrial Property, in accordance with the legislation and standards of the Republic of Kosovo, the European Union, and international best practices.

Throughout his professional career, Mr. Navakazi has held senior positions within the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, serving as a Senior Officer in the Department for Private Sector Development. He also headed for 5 years the Division for Trademarks, Industrial Designs, Geographical Indications and Appellations of Origin.

Over the course of his extensive career, Mr. Navakazi has consistently demonstrated in-depth expertise in Industrial Property, earning a reputation as a trusted and highly respected professional in this field.

One of his principal areas of specialization is the administration of registration procedures for Industrial Property rights. For more than 25 years, he has been actively engaged in the registration and administration of patents, trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications and appellations of origin, ensuring efficiency, transparency and accountability throughout the registration process.

During his tenure at the Industrial Property Agency, Mr. Navakazi served both as chair and member of several working groups responsible for drafting, developing and implementing the legal framework governing Intellectual and Industrial Property.

Mr. Navakazi’s professional career reflects his unwavering commitment, exceptional attention to detail, and consistent application of the law in the field of Industrial Property. · Advising clients on the protection of Intellectual and Industrial Property rights.

· Representing clients in registration procedures before the competent authorities and institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.

· Conducting searches and examinations relating to Industrial Property rights.

· Preparing and filing applications for the registration and administration of patents, trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications and appellations of origin, and the protection of trade secrets and know-how.

· Representing clients and preparing legal submissions before the Industrial Property Agency regarding refusals of registration, trademark oppositions, cancellation, invalidation and revocation proceedings, ownership changes, renewals, statutory deadlines, third-party observations, and appeals.

· Representing clients in judicial proceedings concerning infringement of Intellectual Property rights.

· Representing clients before customs authorities and administering customs procedures for the enforcement and protection of Intellectual and Industrial Property rights.
